What are Ohmic Measurements?
A battery's ability to
deliver power is limited to its internal resistance
characteristics. These resistance properties, commonly
called "Ohmic Metrics", are widely
accepted as a leading indicator of a battery's
state-of-health, as well as a predictor of how close the
battery is to end-of-life.
How Does the PowerAgent Transponder Perform Ohmic
Measurements ?
The basic
technology is based on Phoenix Broadband's field-proven
Battery Management System.
This system consists of a series of individual battery
monitoring sensors which are managed by an intelligent Site
Control Unit.
In the
PowerAgent Transponder implementation of Ohmic
Measurements, a similar sensor is attached to the terminals
of each battery in the OSP power supply, but the Site
Control Unit is eliminated and its intelligent functionality
is performed by the PowerAgent transponder. In addition to
making continuous predictive measurements about each
battery's state-of-health, the battery sensors also feature
Phoenix Broadband's exclusive
Intelligent Battery Equalization, virtually eliminating
battery-to-battery voltage variations when batteries are
operated in a series string.
What Can Ohmic Measurements and Battery Equalization Do For
Me?
Previous
standby-supply status monitoring systems provided
information that is "reactive" at best -you would know about
a problem only after it occurred. With Phoenix Broadband's
Ohmic Measurement technology, it is now possible to predict
battery failures before they actually occur, and our
Intelligent Equalization can actually add years to your
battery life
